This is a product for personal use, we don’t recommend leaving your self-defense tool mounted on the product and then leaving it unsupervised.
No, placing it sideways would be for one, fighting the design of the product and making your piece wiggle.
And two, it would slow your drawing speed significantly, which defeats the main purpose of the product.

It’s a matter of physics, in order to have a tight grip between the mount and your self-defense tool, there must be contact between two flat surfaces, and then the magnet in the mount will maintain the contact.
Most revolver designs have a rounded-cylindrical barrel, and they don’t even have a slide, which doesn’t suit the mount properly, and wouldn’t allow proper grip.
